Should we contact the Indian Government?
Look I don't want to say this to you but I am left with no other choice. When CEOs such as Steve Ballmer and John Chambers are personally calling the Senators because they think this amendment is a real threat, it will be least of our worries what opponents would think about us getting scared. We are not scared, we are simply making our voices heard. If we were scared we won't be doing this.
Now, you have no freaking clue of what is going on behind the scenes, this is your third post in this forum and all these posts in opposition to our action item which we are coordinating with other coalition partners. Why do you think you know more than the folks who are right now speaking with the Senators?

I actually don't think this is the main concern of many people who have not contributed. I have talked with many friends who got stuck with their GC applications regarding IV and urged them to contribute. However, not many of them were very passionate about this. They just simply believed that they could not achieve their GCs faster with IV's effort than without. $20 per month is not a big deal for them. But without any confidence and hope, they did not even want to bother to register and contribute. Most of my friends are EB2 with PD 2004 or later. Some who have filed 485s see no sign for SKIL being passed and are fine with their APs and EADs. Those who have not filed their 485 truly believe that they could file their 485s in about 2 years and got used to this waiting.
So I think maybe we can let people know what IV has achieved in the past one year(not just how many members or how much money IV has achieved..., but things really matter to people) and inspire them.

No change can be made with such an attitude. If it were for such lazy people, no revolution/change could have been organized and this world would still be be under imperialistic forces. Sloth is the biggest sin and an example to sloth is well demonstrated by the behavior of these people who refuse to participate.

I joined IV recently and I visit IV website several times a day. Few days back I had the patience to search and read earlier forum discussions on IV and immigrationportal. I read the forum threads in which it was discussed how IV delivered all the amendments in the last year Senate bill. What more results do these people want? I admit that I don't understand all the amendments and all the provisions that IV got for us in the Senate bill. But isn't it a big deal to simply organize in the matter of few months and then get our provisions passed in the Senate. What more results should we expect to judge IV? The only other result is when IV will get all our amendments in the next immigration bill that will be passed by the congress. By then, it would be too late for these people, who refuse to participate at this time. And I don’t plan to wait for them. So I just signed up for $50/month monthly subscription. More importantly, my wife and I will request all our friends to sign-up for monthly subscription.

IV core should have two focus: long term plan and a short term plan.
Long term plan is anything that involves visa increase.
Short term plan is anything that does not involve visa increase, but that provides some kind of releif to us. A no-nonsense, non-controversial and simple measure that can be added to an appropriation bill is a best example.
I hope the core is reading this post...
If you have an idea, and possibly a suggestion on how to implement it, post it. Even an old idea with innovative implementation may help us.

We must protest and it has to be a unified process. Last time we were really successful. It was one of the factors why they allowed everyone to file EAD - partial independence. Take it positive.

I think fedex does some same day delivery service from some cities, I called they had that service from my city, you might have to give the package very early like 4 or 5 am on monday, call 1800-go-fedex for details
If FedEx doen't help try USPS, they also have overnight delivery.

I do not believe that one person (Pappu) should be held responsible for whatever going on You should not blame Pappu alone.
However, I agree that donor forum proved to be disastrous and driving people away from IV. Someone in core team should do analysis on how much it helped the IV cause and whether it should exist going forward. Lack of transparency is clearly hurting IV cause.

And show DONORS where their money is going? Where is the sponsors money going? and what is this ORGANIZATION planning to do. IF not, one these days they will find themselves in a audit and public scrutiny.

I work for a very reputed company. Lawyers filed EB3 because it was easy for them. At that time everything was current and nobody really cared about EB2/EB3.
Don�t give me moral argument about cutting lines. If someone is qualified for EB2 and position needs EB2 qualified and person is already in process of GC with EB3, he/she has every right to move over to EB2. Don�t even try to equate this with lab subs.
If desi company�s are misusing it then put proper review/audit for it. That doesn�t mean I cannot join an EB2 job and not switch over. You can say however loud you want � no one would listen and no one should listen to you.

Standard Companies donot opt for having two I140s approved for a particular employees which is a "Logical Fallacy" of EB concept. Leave alone Rat Desi Companies.. They can do anything and turn the boards off..
If your arguement is right: first you have to stop L1s getting Gcs in less than 10 months.. (on an average). Porting EB3 to Eb2 is a big junk and disrepct to the EB2 Qualifier. Now, Qualifying Eb2, if you feel, is not a big deal, why the companies did not preferred it out for Eb3s in first place because lack of Job Requirements. (infact, this portings have to be highlighted to USCIS as Junk technique and illegal).
So the whole arguement doesnot workout. Soon, wait and see Portings would bestopped, with Desi companies messing itaround like Approved labors (infact, it isa refined version of approved labor scams).
Please donot jump on me.. its a waste of time.. But the logic holds good EB2 Vs. EB3. If allowed, People may even qualify for EB1, (People would work it out also sooner or later) Let's respect each other profiles.. and its a matter of time we are all there.

c'mon guys...instead of just hoping lets participat ein IV campaigns...it makes no sense that EB2 wud move a lot...just think abt it...there are just too many of...now that everyone jumped from EB3 to EB2...it would have been wise to continue with ur EB3 application.
We need to get the a comprehensive fix to our problems..
Remember the way USCIS moves dates is based on how many applications they think they can process based on their resources..its not based on utilizing the country quotas for a particular year...hence the reason for loosing so many Immigrant VISAS every year..lets try to fix that...rather than hoping dates wud magically move.
Even if they move, I bet 90% of ppl who become current wud not get their GC in that particular month, and then the dates wud retrogress back to 1955 or "U" again.....
Concentrate on the big picture and IV drive to get Admin fixes...thats teh only real solution.
We need to get the a comprehensive fix to our problems..

I read news on oh law firm few days back that USCIS is planning to abandon concurrent filing (I140 + I-485). So when USCIS has power to disallow that, then they may have power to allow file I-485 when visa not available. This is just my thought. Anyway it does not hurt to find it out from USCIS officials, rather than asking some lawyer or interpret our own.
Also when we ask lawyer about this, we may not get positive response as they may fear of loosing fees of countless H1B visa transfers.

My wife's and my I-485 status changed to 'Card Production' . PD Jan 2006.
My wife is in India and scheduled to return on 25th of August on Valid AP. My question is if my can still use to AP to enter USA ?

What can be more racist and unfair than USA as of today when hundred thousands of people who already gave their youth energy to innovation are being made to live hell like lives? I am sure many of us will find medical repercussions of what we are going through in few more years and then we can frame GC or AP or EAD or H1B extension and stare at it from hospital beds :) Cornyn / Durbin is all BS, they just don't want people to settle here, they just want slaves. Rest all are hurdles and policies to close any possible open door for deserving.

What is true about Europe is that it is a socialist place, salaries are lower, taxes are higher, racism is stronger, houses are smaller, yet you are also surrounded by beautiful places and there is a lot to do and see. It depends what type of person you are. Some Europeans hate Europe themselves and want to come to the U.S. as much or more than you did when you immigrated here. I'd say Europe is a good Plan B if all else fails here in America for you, and then you can always go back to India or China if you didn't like Europe.
Hopefully we don't need to get sucked in by the Reverse Brain Drain and we can help Congress help us, by changing the law, and retaining the high-skilled legal immigrants like us who are suffering and stuck in backlogs, and which is the only fair thing to do!

At the risk of getting red dots. let me give my two cents. All the flower campaign and protests worked when USCIS did a screw up, this time around it's not USCIS thats screwing up it's the DOS that allocates the # of visas.
No point sending USCIS flowers. And honestly. Everyone except India EB3 and China EB3 are in good shap they will get their GC's within 5 years which is not a bad wait. Chinese people are not like Indians they come here and hardly go back to their home country so they dont care. It's only India EB3 that is significantly affected and in this uncertain times no one cares about a small chunk of India EB3 and That is the Fact.
And it's preposturous to think that DOS and USCIS are not aware of this. They are very well aware of this and they dont give a damn about us. I know certain people will come here shouting what did u do for that cause.. U can make calls write letters but INDIA EB3 is not the priority for anyone right now. we are the least in the chain.
Whoever has approved 140 can bite the bullet and switch jobs if they want to.. The best one can hope for is things could become different with the economy going up and a change of government.
