People's idea about patriotism is different.Like some folks
Spend hours drinking in the wake of Mumbai attacks
Say they would go back to India to fight if rumors about the war between India and Pak post Mumbai attacks is true.
So patriotic so much so that when IV avtar feature is introduced they even upload a soldier's picture albeit for few min.
When it comes to PM of India they would want western breed like Nostradamus kind Simon,Sweet voiced Susan or half Indian Saino.
Can we call them unpatriotic ?NO!! .That's their patriotism what if it is a bit different in style.(No I didn't spend time digging into anyon'es old posts.Just when someon'esr patriotism seemes interestingly interesting we get to remember some things)
Then moving to IQ:
Some people have such high IQ that they go into the mind of the anonymous members on a forum and find out that these members think they are political strategists ,just that they did a bad job at reading the mind.(None of the members that posted in this thread said they think they are political strategists if anything they repeatedly said that they are sharing what they know.But you know this IQ thing when it's on High it does strange things.)
Facts in politics (in general) and Indian politics in specific are intricately bonded and it's not much possible to state a new fact without stating already mentioned fact(as proof)
For major part of 60 years in Indian political scenario we are repeating the same family to hold top most position,we are repeating same mistakes, what's mere repetition of few facts on a forum.
( Though no one asked me directly) As always if I think I have to say something I will continue to do so.I'm not even wee bit interested in getting into personal attacks with anonymous members on an anonymous forum That's not why I come here.Also I have nothing against anyone.If I like someone's post I won't hold back my appreciation just because they didn't like my posts.

I 100% agree that selling or buying an LC should be absolutely prohibited.
However the principle itself makes sense in some cases.
A few years ago, a friend of mine was endlessly waiting for his LC when a co-worker of his (with an approved LC) suddenly quit to go back to his home country. The company (that was paying all the fees) then used this approved labor so that my friend could get his GC faster. Since that company was fair and honest, he never had to pay a dime for it.
So, he got his GC a couple years ago and I am still waiting...
Am I jealous? You bet! Angry? No. My friend took advantage of a legal loophole and, let's not be hypocrite here, who wouldn't have done the same in this particular situation?
But again, making a business out of those LCs should be 100% illegal.

Well discussion here. Under present situation (w/o any legislative relief) labor certification based EB folks, particulary Indians, cannot think of GC/485 for next 10 years. The problem here is, they are stopping the flood gate in 485 stage. If they (CIS/DOS) do not need high skilled immigrants, stop them in LC stage itself. Testing labor market in 2001, for a permanent job that is going to be assumed by a foreign worker only in (after 485 approval) 2010 is a joke. The best slution is market based numarical limitation without any country quota.

The original post is fine only in parts but most of it is totally crap. He says his living standard has gone down because of L1s and H1bs and herds people coming from india, Dude you need to understand that this recession has not been caused by H1b and L1s or other IT workers coming to US, its because of the real estate boom and foolishness of american people who believed that real estate prices will keep on rising to INFINITY.. i don't have to explain how this recession started i hope majority of the people knows about it.. so stop blaming IT workforce for your living standard.. another example.. just seen what happened to GM and chrysler.. they failed to understand the market for small cars and fuel efficient cars.. instead they produced gas guzzlers like hummers.. so do you think they have the brightest minds. I think we have talked and analyzed enough about how many visas available for August and September and pretty much arrived at conclusion that at the minimum 20K visas available. (Thanks to vdlrao).
Now we should talk about capability of USCIS and its processing speed? What is the normal approval rate with USCIS's regular processing. Also we heard that USCIS recruited many people, Do we suppose to see any improvement in processing. Do we think all the 20K visas will be used within 2 months?
If USCIS is going to approve only 5K visas over next 2 months, there is no point in talking how many visas left.

Poll is ok, but what about our voting rights? Many countries allow citizens to use proxy vote / vote by mail to exercise their rights... I remember that there was a bill in 2006 on the floor of parlement to allow this for NRI's and Congress party was dead against such a bill due to some reason... Not sure what happened after that...
Its rediculous that about a million folks in this country and many more around the world, (I believe 30 million or so NRI's in total) are deprived of their fundamental contitutional right to vote, well a small portion compared to total population. Its unfortunate.

Here is my $.02 (or maybe 200 cents)
I am here since 2001 and my family joined me in 2002. I came here at a fairly grown up age and the reason for coming here is mainly for a better life for my family. I don't make enough money to be able to send and invest in India. In fact I was sent money (more than $10K) a few times from back home.
But I do make enough money here to be able to live in a good house and have a couple of cars. In India I couldn't have dreamed of a second car (I did have a car in India) and it would have been impossible for my kids to have a car when they are 16. I know for sure I have secured the future of my kids better here in the US than what it could have been for them in India. We are educated people and we keep reading about the successes of the Ambani Borthers, Rahul Gandhi and others. Our family with average IQs and wealth can only read the news but can never have a chance to have a go and succeed like those BIG WIGS in India. Here in the US, we definitely have a chance, to become at least a millionaire before we retire. As for my kids, they could be rich at a much younger age.
My PD is Oct. 2003 EB2 India (filed everything in June 2007) and I have sustained the wait for 4 years and I am willing to take on the stress for may be one more year for my family by which time we all should have our GCs. Moving to Canada? - I would rather start my own consulting company in Canada and go there once in a while (preferably in the summer) to enjoy the weather and to take care of my business.

You are right. A lot of us came here for a better life. And yes it is a better life. I think Canada is a good option, but it is a lot harder to uproot and move, when you are sooo settled in the US.

credentials of their upsells and about themselves just to show them as superior and successful in life, i know few friends of mine who though a big failure in the technical job they do (one has been kicked out of the job because he did not knew his work) but he keeps posting patents on free internet sites and writes technical blogs (most of them copied from different internet sites) just to show his downlines how bigshot he is.
Complete wastage of time and money, do it if you want to alienate all your existing friends and family and if you did decide to join , be ready to be brainwashed by the new friends and group that you are going to have by making everybody else beside that group as a loser.
By the Way when they introduce you to their boss ,their boss usually shows you a real check of 8-9K, is it usually a fake check given to them as part of the kit

I think as someone said this guy was randomly throwing numbers out there. How come his analysis does not account for remaining 36K EB1 and EB2 ROW applications. Is he suggesting that all EB1 and EB2 ROW are being used up also. Very hard to believe that for 2008 and 2009 with the way the economy is going. Lot of product companies where most of the ROW 485s would likely come from have stopped applying perm since last summer. There is a huge flaw in this analysis and its not as pessimistic as it seems.
BUT, then again we need legislation to wipe the slate clean and clear these 200K applications, so there is a new build up of visa demand and wait times are tolerable for current applicants and future applicants.
AFAIK the major movement in the visa bulletin in last 3 months (july,august,sept) is not because of spill over of the EB1->EB2->EB3 form the same country, but using the leftover visas from countries like Nigeria, Fiji, Uruguay where the applicants for EB1 & EB2 are often in less than 3-digit numbers. And in IT, consulting is the main business model. Even if the application is developed in-house, the department that uses the software is called internal customer. If we can work for internal customer legally, whats wrong in working for external customer.
No business can evolve without customers. If IT consulting has grown up to this level, that means businesses welcomed consulting.

I am predicting by Sep'10 we should see all of 2006 PD's cleared up.

nope, that might have been the number for 2005. For the bulk of 2005 (Perm started from April) there were very few approvals, then a big bunch in the last 2 months. 2006 had a 'healthy' rate of approvals...

Defending one's country is one thing and defending fraud and corruption is another thing. Yes, there are lots of great universitites in India like IITs, IIMs, and several Regional Engineering Colleges. But guess what, when it comes to EB2/EB3 genuine IITs and overnight (okay maybe three months) bodyshop graduates are treated the same way. It is for the sake of our profession that we need to weed out these frauds.
Don't make corruption in India as an incentive to thrash Indians. Majority of Indian H1b/L1 like any other community are well skilled professionals. It should not give you an incentive to thrash Indians or India. I am sure you belong to India and I am pretty depressed to see some one trash his own country to get some cheap publicity on this blog. I am not playing a race card but Yes I will defend Indians or Chinese for any attacks by bigots like you.
